Nil

  • For this game, the Nil bidder's success is scored independently from their partner's bid. The Nil bidder earns 100 points for taking zero tricks, or loses 100 points for taking any tricks. The partner's tricks are scored separately according to standard bidding rules.

Set

  • For this game 'Fixed Penalty' is the selected Set rule. When 'Fixed Penalty' is selected, failing to make your bid results in a deduction (or score) of 0 points, regardless of how many tricks were bid.

    Sandbags

    • When teams take more tricks than they bid, each extra counts as a sandbag worth 1 point. After accumulating 10 sandbags, teams lose 100 points and their sandbag count resets to 0.
  • Reneg

    • For this game 'Opponent Wins Their Bid' is the selected Reneg rule. When 'Opponent Wins Their Bid' is selected, if a team Renegs they are Set and their opponents automatically win their bid and are absolved of any sandbags for the round.

    • For this game 'Bid Multiplied by a Negative Number' is the selected Set rule. When 'Bid Multiplied by a Negative Number' is selected, failing to make your bid results in a deduction equal to your bid multiplied by 10.

    Sandbags

    • When teams take more tricks than they bid, each extra counts as a sandbag worth 1 point. After accumulating 10 sandbags, teams lose 100 points and their sandbag count resets to 0.
  • 10 For 200

    • A special bid requiring teams to take exactly 10 tricks. Success earns 200 points; failure costs 200 points. Must be declared before seeing cards.

    Reneg

    • For this game 'Opponent Wins Their Bid' is the selected Reneg rule. When 'Opponent Wins Their Bid' is selected, if a team Renegs they are Set and their opponents automatically win their bid and are absolved of any sandbags for the round.

    • For this game 'Penalty Multiplied by Deficit' is the selected Set rule. When 'Penalty Multiplied by Deficit' is selected, failing to make your bid results in a deduction equal to the difference between your bid and the tricks taken, multiplied by 20.

While the partner must make their bid for the Nil to succeed, their tricks won't contribute to the score and sandbags are not counted. If playing with the Board rule then the Nil bidder's partner can only bid minimum board.

    Blind Nil
