Nil
Partner Must Achieve Their Bid
Determines if the nil bidder's partner must also make their bid for the nil bid to be successful. When set to "Yes", BOTH players must succeed for the team to earn nil points. Alternitavely, if "No" is chosen the Nil bidder and partner bids are scored indepently of each other. This setting will be applied to both the Nil and Blind Nil bid types.
Apply partner's bid points to Nil scores
Determines if the points from the partner's bid should be added and deducted to the round score. When set to "Yes", nil bids will include partner's points in the round score. When set to "No", only the nil points are awarded or deducted based on the outcome of the round. Partner's sandbags are not counted. If playing with the Board rule, the Nil bidder's partner must bid minimum board only. This setting will be applied to both the Nil and Blind Nil bid types.
The points awarded when a player successfully takes zero books (tricks) after making a nil bid. This rewards the high-risk strategy of deliberately taking no books.
The points deducted when a player takes any books (tricks) after making a nil bid. This penalizes failed attempts at the nil strategy.
Blind Nil
The points awarded when a player successfully takes zero books (tricks) after making a blind nil bid without looking at their cards. Higher than regular nil points due to increased risk.
The points deducted when a player takes any books (tricks) after making a blind nil bid. Higher than regular nil penalty due to increased risk.
The minimum number of points a team must be trailing by to attempt a blind nil bid. This prevents leading teams from increasing their lead through blind nil bids.
Double Nil
The points awarded when both team members successfully take zero books (tricks) after both declaring nil. Typically higher than individual nil due to increased difficulty.
The points deducted when either team member takes books (tricks) after both declaring nil. Typically higher than individual nil penalty due to increased risk.
The minimum number of points a team must be trailing by to attempt a double nil bid. This prevents leading teams from using double nil to extend their lead.
Double Blind Nil
The points awarded when both team members successfully take zero books (tricks) after both declaring blind nil. The highest nil reward due to maximum risk.
The points deducted when either team member takes books (tricks) after both declaring blind nil. The highest nil penalty due to maximum risk.
The minimum number of points a team must be trailing by to attempt a double blind nil bid. This prevents leading teams from using this high-risk strategy.
The minimum number of books (tricks) needed for the point reward.
The number of points rewarded for making the minimum bet.
The point penalty for not getting your 10 for 200 bet.
The minimum number of books (tricks) a team must bid when declaring they're "going blind". Teams that bid less than this minimum cannot use the Going Blind rule.
The points earned per book (trick) when a team successfully makes their blind bid. This rewards teams for taking the risk of bidding without looking at their cards.
The points deducted per book (trick) when a team fails their blind bid. This penalizes teams for the risk of bidding without looking at their cards.
The minimum number of points a team must be trailing by to use the Going Blind rule. This prevents leading teams from increasing their lead through blind bids.
The maximum number of excess books (tricks) a team can accumulate before incurring a sandbag penalty. This discourages deliberately underbidding.
The points deducted per sandbag once a team reaches their sandbag limit. This penalizes teams for consistently taking more books than bid.
The minimum number of books (tricks) a team must bid to avoid automatic set (penalty). This prevents teams from consistently making very low bids.
Set Points Rule
Determines how penalties are calculated when a team fails to make their bid:
  • Fixed Penalty: Same penalty regardless of bid
  • Negative Scoring: Penalty based on bid amount
  • Double Deficit: Penalty based on how far under bid the team fell
The fixed number of points deducted when a team fails to make their bid (when using Fixed Penalty option).
The number multiplied by the original bid to calculate the penalty when a team fails to make their bid (when using Negative Scoring option).
The number multiplied by the difference between bid and books (tricks) taken to calculate the penalty (aka Double Deficit).
Reneg Point Rule
Determines the penalty when a team reneges (fails to follow suit):
  • Lose Books Penalty: Deducts specific number of books (tricks)
  • Point Penalty: Deducts fixed number of points
  • No Score: Neither team scores for the round
  • Opponent Wins: Opponent automatically makes their bid
The number of books (tricks) deducted from the reneging team's total when using the Lose Books Penalty option.
The number of points deducted from the reneging team's score when using the Point Penalty option.
Both teams settle for 0 points.
Reneging team is Set and their opponents win their bid and are absolved of their sandbags for the round.
The score a team must reach to win the game. This determines the game's length and prevents indefinite play.
